How to overcome the common problem of contemporary people——soft addiction
In modern society, many people have this experience: they always open the shopping page unconsciously, even if they do n’t buy anything, they have to browse it mechanically; they obviously do n’t want to watch a TV program, but they hold the remote control until late at night; You ca n’t fall asleep without even leaving your phone; you ca n’t stop eating potato chips… Many people do n’t care about these small actions, but in fact, this is a common problem among contemporary people—soft addiction.
Soft addiction refers to those compulsive habits, behaviors or revertive habits, behaviors or revertive emotions. It is a new term proposed by American psychologists.
Whether you’re lost in cyberspace, over-consumption, or watching TV for too long, gossip, biting your nails, daydreaming all the time, always procrastinating or exercising too much, you are likely to have a “soft addiction.”
On the surface, they seem to make you temporarily satisfied or relieve the pressure, but in fact they are squeezed out of more energy, financial resources, or other things. You may regret it afterwards, but it is difficult to get rid of it.
Over time, “soft addiction” will gradually devour our health.
For example, Internet addiction, the psychological symptoms may be manifested as inability to withdraw, craving for more time online, neglecting family and friends, low mood when not online, sensitive and irritable, physical manifestations of eye fatigue, insufficient sleep and carpal tunnel synthesisdisease.
Generally speaking, soft addiction stems from realistic stress.
Online shopping just makes you feel satisfied in the virtual world for a while, but you can’t help avoiding the pressure in reality.
“Excessive online shopping” is a negative, negative, and iterative process.
On the surface, the pressure of brushing Weibo is alleviated, but in fact, after lying on the bed after brushing Weibo, the exhaustion and all the annoyances that were left behind in the head, followed one after another, and came to my heart.
A person’s body and mind will be affected to varying degrees, making it impossible for people to extricate themselves while enjoying the thrill of being “knowingly committing crimes.”
Psychologists say that, in fact, soft addiction is only a self-compulsive phenomenon, but not an obsessive-compulsive disorder.
People with soft addiction often habitually delay time when they encounter something, and always wait until they can no longer delay it.
They all look forward to being able to do things on their own initiative, sitting and waiting for that “better opportunity” to appear.
In fact, this is the general idea of patients with soft addiction. They wait for that day to come. All the time is ripe. They will do their best to do what they need to do.
But the truth is, this day may never come.
How to overcome “soft addiction”?
Quitting soft addiction often requires self-reflection.
The next time you sit in front of the TV for a long time or rush to the mall, ask yourself: Is this excessive?
Does this interfere with your life?
What happened and what inspired this addictive behavior, so as to understand their true needs.
Make up your mind to make corrections, but don’t directly deprive your inner needs.
When you are upset and want to relax, don’t always search the Internet for gossip, watering or playing games, and choose some other activities to replace the soft addictions you want to get rid of, such as practicing yoga for a while and walking outdoors.
Choose activities you like that bring a good feeling and rejuvenate yourself.
Eager to achieve success may be counterproductive, and may gradually reduce soft addiction.
Psychologists recommend reducing the amount of time spent online. For example, set an alarm clock and stipulate that you do not exceed 30 minutes each time you go online, then immediately turn off the alarm as soon as the alarm goes off, then go for a walk or meet friends, and stay away from the computer.
If you are procrastinating or avoiding difficulties, you may wish to develop a clearer plan.
A task that is too ambitious tends to increase people’s burnout, and the tendency to delay and avoid is greater; the more specific the task, the more operable it is, and the more effective it can be performed.
For example, if you read a book and specify a specific number, such as 10 pages, then don’t put down the book and try other things before reading 10 pages.
Accept yourself and accept your own behavior.
Everyone needs to rest and relax.
Maybe you like to indulge in some things first, accumulate enough power, and be ready to go, then believe in your ability and behavior, don’t blame or deny yourself for delay.
6.Establish close ties with relatives and friends.
If you give and feel more care and love in communication with others, and make your life full of more progress, the appeal of soft addiction will naturally be weak.
Through the above sharing, I hope to bring help to friends with soft addiction.
